Someshwara temple is one of the oldest and most revered places in the city. It was built during the Chalukya dynasty and from then it evolved as a great religious place. The major features of this place are the surroundings and the idols of Chatrubhuja and Mahishasur Mardini which are very old and were established here by the Chalukya ruler.

The austere, grandiose site of Hampi was the last capital of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagar. Its fabulously rich princes built Dravidian temples and palaces which won the admiration of travellers between the 14th and 16th centuries. Conquered by the Deccan Muslim confederacy in 1565, the city was pillaged over a period of six months before being abandoned. The site is large and is well worth a visit for a day or more. Brindavan Gardens, Mysore
The gardens are located at a distance of 19 kms from Mysore city centre and are built across river Cauvery and below Krishnaraja Sagar Dam (also known as Kannambadi) which itself is a magnificent example of engineering and a major tourist attractions. Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore
Spread over 240 acres of land, the garden is located in the heart of the city. It derives its name from the two words, 'lal' meaning red and 'bagh' meaning garden and is called so due to the abundance of red roses. The garden dates back to the times of Hyder Ali, a well-know ruller of old Mysore. Shanta Durga Temple, Goa
This is the most famous temple of Goa. Local legends tell of a battle between Shiva and Vishnu, a battle so fierced that Brahma prayed to Parvatti to intervene, she did this by assuming the form of Shantadurga. Mehtab Bagh, Agra
Mehtab Bagh is located on the banks of the river Yamuna opposite to the Taj Mahal. Constructed between 1631-1635 CE, this 25 acre bagh is one of the most beautiful gardens of the city. Recent excavations conducted by Archaeological Survey of India revealed a huge octagonal tank eqquiped with 25 foutains on the southern periphery, a small central tank and baradaris on the east.
